Little River County was formed in 1867, mainly from a part of Sevier County, but the eastern part came from Hempstead County so that now it is bordered on the south by Red River and on the north by Little River with the exception that the northeastern boundary extends across the Little River to take in ten or twelve sections, which area includes White Cliffs.
